Simon Murgatroyd: Alan Ayckbourn's Archivist & Media Administrator

Simon Murgatroyd is Alan Ayckbourn's archivist and responsible for press / media enquiries, the playwright's official website as well as social media. He is the administrator and founder of the playwright's official website and is considered an expert on Alan Ayckbourn and his plays.
Biography
Simon Murgatroyd is the playwright Alan Ayckbourn's archivist and the creator and administrator of the playwright's official website www.alanayckbourn.net - founded in 2001 - as well as its sister site
www.theatre-in-the-round.co.uk.

He is also a professional writer, who worked as a journalist for six years at the Scarborough Evening News, and whose articles on Alan Ayckbourn have been used for world premieres and West End productions of the playwright's plays. His work has also been published in programmes and publications in the UK, USA, Europe and Australia. He is also the author of the book
Unseen Ayckbourn.

Simon has organised and administered a number of official Ayckbourn events and exhibitions and also gives talks and lectures on subjects such as Alan Ayckbourn and his plays, Stephen Joseph and the history of the Scarborough's Library Theatre. He also maintains the Bob Watson Archive at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough. He has offered help and advice to researchers and students around the world including working with the BBC on a number of occasions.

He holds an MA in Theatre & Contemporary Practise from the University of Hull.

Unseen Ayckbourn
In 2017, Simon published Unseen Ayckbourn - Illustrated Edition a completely revised, updated and expanded second edition of Unseen Ayckbourn (2013). The book - named by The Stage newspaper as one of its best theatre books of 2013 - looks at the withdrawn, unproduced and unwritten plays by Alan Ayckbourn as well as variants, concepts, unused titles and other miscellany.
